According to the Ministry of Agricultural and Land Reclamation, the exports have increased to 5.2 million tonnes in the first half of the year. Daily News Egypt has reported a significant increase in the volume of exports, indicating the role of agricultural crops trade contributing to Egypt's economy and trade status.
In a report from the Central Administration for Agricultural Quarantine, presented to Agriculture Minister Alaa Farouk, citrus fruits have taken the lead with 1.8 million tonnes exported, followed by the potato export with 1.2 million tonnes. Egypt has been focusing on maintaining its position as an agricultural export leader while adhering to strict quality standards and food safety regulations, as stated by Minister Farouk about the future of Egypt as a regional export leader. He also noted that the trade ministry is in full support of easy trade without any additional barriers, which directly affect the competitiveness positively.
The agricultural sector is contributing highly to the region's development plan and economy at a national level. He also stated that the success behind achieving high numbers in agricultural exports is due to the collaboration of farmers, producers, and exporters who deserved the praise and credit for delivering good quality produce and following adequate agricultural practices.
